"Having worked with Tom Fortes Mayer on various projects I can confirm without reservation that he is an extraordinary asset on any organisational or behavioural change project. He is an authority on accelerated-change technology and he has an inexhaustible passion for improving the human condition that guides all of his work. He is a very original thinker and his capacity to draw on techniques from diverse cultures enables him to engage all sorts of people from different walks of life. His long search to discover and solve the universal challenges that underpin all of our difficulties has now successfully been transformed into a set of automated experiences that are incredibly effective at enabling people to manage their own psychological well being. It is a testament to him that he has managed to create a fully automated system that enables a person to explore and resolve their own developmental difficulties safely on their own. This is an extraordinary achievement that is much needed in today's world. It is the best emotional intelligence system I have ever come across. It really works for lots of different kinds of people."
Dr David Morris MBChB MRCP( UK)
General Practitioner Principal, Practice Based Commissioning Lead
“I have known Tom for more than seven years since we met professionally regarding the provision of healthcare in our locality. Since that time we have continued a regular professional and personal relationship.
Tom brings to the area of mental health and personal development a high level of rigor in his thinking, which is clearly demonstrated by his continuous reflection and refinement in his approach to this complex field. His excellent scientific rigor with this approach is readily apparent.
Mental wellbeing and development is a complicated and many faceted field and it is easy to become lost in its complexities. My ongoing observation is that Tom has an excellent ability to identify core issues and then address them rapidly and effectively. He has robustness to his approach that avoids the pitfall of creating dependency and he is a powerful and innovative force for personal empowerment and development.
As an experienced General Practitioner I have referred a variety of my most complex cases of mental health issues to Tom and have seen directly the effectiveness of his approach. These have included cases where many other approaches have had at best only limited success.
At all times Tom brings a high level of professionalism to his work and also a consistent humaneness in his approach that undoubtedly contributes to his effectiveness. I have every confidence that the care of referrals I have made has been placed in exceptionally effective hands.”
Ashoka Foundation (Nigeria)
The Ashoka Foundation was founded in 1980 by Bill Drayton. Beginning with the first Ashoka Fellows elected in India in 1981, Ashoka has grown to an association of over 2,000 Fellows in over 60 countries on the world's five main continents.
Rather than leaving societal needs for the government or business sectors to address, social entrepreneurs are creating innovative solutions, delivering extraordinary results, and improving the lives of millions of people.
The result of this transformation will ultimately be a world where all individuals will be able to spot challenges, address them, and improve their lives. Rather than a tiny percentage of the world controlling the wealth and making the decisions that affect our lives, every individual will be empowered to determine his or her own future.
Tom Fortes Mayer went there, at their request, to deliver an off-the-shelf 3 day emotional intelligence leadership training program and worked with 22 Ashoka Fellows. They were a massively varied group all with very different projects and personal developmental needs. The programme was so successful that their leader replied with this quote.
Lesley Gene Agams
Regional Representative, Ashoka West Africa
“I first experienced Tom’s FreeMind Training in November 2006, it had a tremendously positive impact on me and I realized that his methodology was both innovative and unique. As the country representative for Ashoka Innovators for the Public, the first and largest association of social entrepreneurs worldwide, I am constantly on the lookout for cutting edge ideas to support and to share with our network. Recognizing Tom’s program as one of those evolutionary ideas and its potential to improve the work of our fellows as ethical change agents and leaders I committed to bringing his program to Nigeria for our fellows. In October 2008 Tom spent 3 days with our fellows in Nigeria.”
“His enthusiasm and dedication to detail are stunning but specifically the way he combines this training with rapid-change technology means that he has developed a completely original methodology for accelerating development. What is more amazing is how he has now managed to encapsulate this life-changing training into a set of automated tools. That is a vast undertaking and one that has unlimited potential. FreeMind has now overcome some of the major delivery hurdles for creating global change. At Ashoka we are really excited about what that could mean.”
“I remain committed to ensuring that all of our 2000 leading social entrepreneurs worldwide experience this unique and evolutionary program.”
